Las obras de Braeden son un estallido de color con formas grotescas y psicodélicas que hacen que suene música en tu cabeza al observarlas. Nació y creció en Hamilton, Canadá, una ciudad a las afueras de Toronto. En su opinión, un buen lugar si te gusta el interior.

Lleva un tiempo trabajando como ilustrador freelance. Ha hecho incursiones en otros medios pero la pluma y la tinta es lo que más le gusta por el momento. Así nos lo cuenta: “Realmente no he encontrado una mejor sensación que la de sentirme realizado una vez que he terminado una pieza, en la que he invertido horas y horas. Al reflexionar sobre ese momento me doy cuenta de que es abrumador. Además, ver que otros disfrutan al ver mi trabajo es un valor añadido a esa sensación. Lo hago por mí mismo, pero la reacción de los demás es, sin lugar a dudas, muy agradable”.

Respecto al proceso que sigue a la hora de realizar sus obras, explica que en ocasiones antes de sentarse a trabajar sabe lo que quiere hacer, pero otras veces la idea va surgiendo una vez tiene la pluma sobre el papel. Entonces, las imágenes se van completando con otras imágenes y las ideas van llegando, y cuanto más tiempo le dedica, según él mismo, mejor queda.

Braeden también tiene claros sus proyectos de futuro, entre los que se encuentra adaptar su estilo al 3D y crear algunas esculturas.

Lo más difícil que ha hecho ha sido ver a Skrillex en un festival mientras esperaba en el mismo escenario a los Outkast. “Eso fue difícil”, dice.

Y precisamente la música es una de sus formas preferidas de inspirarse, ya que refleja el estado de ánimo en el que se encuentra: “A veces tomo directamente la inspiración de las letras de las canciones y las imágenes que evocan”.

Como figura histórica escoge a Jim Morrison; una canción, ‘Come Clean’, de Hilary Duff, que se queda atrapada en su cabeza cada vez que llueve, “lo que es bastante lógico” (por el videoclip). Y su comida favorita no la tiene clara, pero los macarrones caseros con carne que prepara su madre es uno de los platos a los que no se puede resistir.

El secreto que nos confiesa es que puede airear sus gases en público descaradamente, y para relajarse tras un día ajetreado, se tira en el sofá con su señora, con una cerveza fría y un buen porro. “Eso suena bien”, termina.

The works of Braeden are a burst of color with grotesque and psychedelic forms that made sound music in your head when you are observing them. He was born and grew up in Hamilton, Canada, a town on the outskirts of Toronto. In his opinion, a good place if you like inside.

It takes a while working as a freelance illustrator. He has made incursions into other media but pen and ink is what most likes at the moment. Thus tells us: “I have not really found a better feeling than the feel accomplished once I have finished a piece, in which I’ve invested hours and hours. Reflecting on that time I realize that is overwhelming. See that others enjoy seeing my work is also a value added to that feeling. I do it by myself, but the reaction of others is, without doubt, very nice”.

Regarding the process that follows when carrying out their work, explains that sometimes before sitting down to work he knows what he wants to do, but sometimes the idea is emerging once has the pen on the paper. Braeden also has clear their future projects, like adapting his style to 3D and create some sculptures.

And finally, the perfect way to relax after a busy day is lying on the couch with his lovely lady, maybe with a cold beer and a fat joint. “That sounds about right”, he concludes.
