Creció en Oporto, en el norte de Portugal, y empezó a dibujar personajes cuando era muy joven: “desde que recuerdo me apasionan los colores y expresiones, siempre me gustaron las caricaturas y dibujos, así que supongo que mi arte ha sido una evolución”. Comenzó haciendo graffiti alrededor de 2004, el mismo año que fue a la Universidad, y ahora es Licenciada en Artes digitales y Multimedia y trabaja como ilustradora freelance desde 2008. Seguramente os sonara su arte por su participacion en la colectiva “DISMALAND” de Banksy.
Generalmente, no sigue un proceso ni método fijo de trabajo, porque prefiere dejar fluir las cosas, así que a veces va dibujando hasta que tiene una idea de cómo va a quedar, y otras veces, dibuja sin pensar siquiera en lo que va a salir. Así nos lo cuenta: “es difícil de explicar pero obtengo algunos resultados interesantes”.
Ahora está haciendo el diseño de una caja de bombones para una empresa, y nos explica: “Me gusta trabajar como ilustrador digital, pero lo que más me gusta hacer es pintar las paredes en la calle, así que mi objetivo es conseguir más lugares para hacerlo, y si pudiera vivir de eso, sería genial”.
Sobre lo más difícil que ha hecho, nos cuenta que una vez intentó surfear, pero no sabía cuándo era el momento de levantarse en la tabla, así que, dice “supongo que la primera vez que intentas algo nuevo, es siempre lo más difícil porque no sabes cómo hacerlo”.
En relación a la inspiración, dice que todo les inspira: “sé es un poco cliché, pero a mi me funciona. Soy consciente de lo que está sucediendo a mi alrededor, soy el centro de mi universo y trato de crear felicidad a través de los universos de otras personas, mi arte y mi manera de ser”.
Admira a La Fontaine, debido a su imaginación y cómo ‘dio vida’ a los animales, convirtiéndolos en seres con emociones y discurso. “Estoy segura de que el trabajo de ese hombre ha inspirado a un montón de personas a crear, como Walt Disney y muchos más. Por eso, le respeto”, expresa.
También, nos habla sobre su música y su comida preferida: “en los últimos años me escucho a mí misma cantando el coro de Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman, ese ‘La da dee la dee da’ realmente se pega en tu cabeza. Y en cuanto a mi comida ahah, es la Francesinha, un plato tradicional de mi ciudad, que podría comer toda la semana, si no me matara”.
El personaje histórico que escogería sería un superhéroe, y respecto a su talento secreto, dice: “Creo que soy muy talentosa para escoger a mis amigos. No es el talento más impresionante, pero me hace sentir bien, saber que puedo confiar en ellos para lo que necesito, y eso es una cosa muy especial e importante”.
Y por último, compartió sus momentos perfectos con nosotros: “reunirme con mis amigos para partirme de risa, fumando y con una cerveza fresca en mis manos, en algún lugar con impresionante vistas del atardecer”.

THE SARCASM AND PROVOCATION OF WASTED RITA.
She grew up in Porto and nearby cities in the north of Portugal. She started drawing characters when she was very young: “since I remember I have this
passion for colours and expressions, always liked cartoons and animations, so I guess it evolved from that”.
She started doing graffiti around 2004, the same year that she went to university. She has a degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia and work as a freelance illustrator since 2008.
Usually, she doesn´t follow a process or has some kind of work method because she prefer to just let things flow, so sometimes she doesn’t sketch until she has an idea on how’s it going to look, and there are other times when she just draw, without even thinking on what’s coming out…: “It’s hard to explain but I get some interesting results”, she says.
Right now she is doing the artwork design of a chocolate box for a start-up company. She explain: “I really like to work as a digital illustrator, but what I really like to do is to paint walls on the street, so my goal is to get more and more places to do it, and if I can make a live out of that, that would be great”.
About the hardest thing she has done, she explains: “I tried surfing once, and I never had this lack of strength feeling when it was time to get up on the board… so I guess the first time you try something new, it’s always the hardest because you don’t know what are you dealing with”.
Related with the inspiration, she says that she is inspired by everything: “I know it’s a bit cliché, but it works for me. I’m aware of what’s going on around me, as I’m the center of my universe and I try to create happiness on another people’s universes trough my artwork and way to be”.
She admires La Fontaine, due to his imagination and how he ‘gave life’ to animals, turning them into beings with emotions and speech. “I’m sure that man’s work inspired a lot of other people to create, such as Walt Disney and many more. For that, I think I own him my respect, she expresses”.
Also, she tells us about her favourite music and food: “In the last few years I hear myself singing the chorus of Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman, that “La da dee la dee da” really sticks in you head and for that: I’m sorry for sticking it into yours ahah Favourite food, I’m gonna have to say it’s Francesinha, because it’s a
traditional dish from my city, and I could eat that all week, if it didn’t killed me”.
And her favourite character would be a super-hero. About her secret talent, she says: “I think that I’m really talented on picking my friends. It’s not the most impressive talent, but it makes me feel good, knowing that I can rely on them for whatever I need, and that’s one very special and important thing”.
And finally, she shared her perfect moments: Meeting some folks for a laugh, chilling between beer and smokes at some amazing spot with the sunset as a view.
