La Cuarta edición del festival Plátano Rock 09

Ya queda menos para que la cuarta edición del Festival Plátano Rock llegue a su fin. Será este domingo, 21 de junio, con la clausura del más de un centenar de creaciones de arte urbano, un ciclo de cine (patrocinado por Carhartt) y el pasado viernes, 12 de junio, se finiquitó el apartado musical del festival en la Plaza de la Iglesia de la Concepción (La Noria), en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, donde se celebraron tres conciertos a cargo de The Rigth Ons (Madrid), OVNI (Argentina-Barcelona) y Line (Tenerife), que inundaron la plaza de rock soul con toques de funk al más puro Sly and The Family Stone. Durante los conciertos pinchó Dj Carrie (Tenerife). El Festival Plátano Rock está producido por Graciasaella, patrocinado por la Viceconsejería de Cultura del Gobierno de Canarias y la Concejalía de Fiestas del Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife,y cuenta con la colaboración del Organismo Autónomo de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife y del Cabildo de Tenerife. Recordamos que la exposición, compuesta por más de un centenar de creaciones de 24 artistas procedentes de Canarias ˆGran Canaria y Tenerife-, de Barcelona y de América, como las fotografías del artista Tobin Yelland, estará abierta al público hasta el próximo día 21 de junio.Ah, y recordamos también que el Centro de Arte La Recova cuenta en el área central con una rampa de skate a disposición de todo el que quiera pasar un buena rato.

MAD009: Madrid es diseño //

Tras dos ediciones con gran éxito de público y una clara trayectoria ascendente, vuelve MAD un año más para confirmarse como una de las citas internacionales más importantes del diseño en nuestro país. El evento, que se celebra los días 26 y 27 de junio en el Palacio de Congresos de Madrid del Paseo de la Castellana, contará este año con la presencia de agentes clave del diseño gráfico y web, la publicidad interactiva y los motion graphics como La Despensa, Grupo W -México-, Herráiz&Soto, Agency Republic -Inglaterra-, Antoine et Manuel -París-, Alex Trochut, Hilman Curtis -Nueva York-, BaseMotion, Interbrand, Waskman, Trevor Jackson -Inglaterra-, Pentagram o los propios organizadores del evento, la comunidad creativa online Domestika. MAD009: Madrid is design // After two editions highly successful in attendance and a clearly uphill tendency, MAD comes back one more year to confirm itself as one of Spain's most important events for international design. Quiksilver Europe acaba de estrenar Cloud 9, el esperado documental que recoge los dos años previos al asalto del noveno campeonato del mundo de surf de Kelly Slater. The legend of Kelly Slater // Quiksilver Europe recently launched Cloud 9, the long-awaited documentary film covering the two years previous to Kelly Slater's historic 9th surfing world title. The film, which premiered last June 14 at San Sebastián's Surfilm Festibal, is directed by Nicolas Dazet and Concrete Productions, narrated by Mark Richards and produced by Quiksilver's European division. Staf en la edición de verano del Bright 09 //

Un año más y un verano más, Staf volverá a estar en la edición estival de la feria de streetwear, zapatillas, skate y moda de Frankfurt -más conocida como Bright- que pasa este año de tres a dos días por primera vez en su historia. Staf in Bright 09's summer edition // One more year and one more July, Staf will be there again in the summer edition of Frankfurt's streetwear, sneaker, skateboard and fashion fair -best known as Bright- which will be reduced from three to two days for the first time in its life. As the organizers assure, that will make the fair grow in quality and performance. Anyway, there is where we'll send the usual nice stack of issues of our upcoming next deliver -Staf 40- to fulfill the press lounge's shelves of the fair, which will take place on the 11th and 12th of July. Con la marcha del Bread & Butter, que vuelve a Berlín tras cuatro años, al verano barcelonés se le queda una vacante para la que el mercado streetwear nacional ya parece haber encontrado un sustituto. Su nombre es Outerspace y está integrado en el marco de la también nueva feria The Brandery. Ambos eventos se celebrarán del 7 al 9 de julio en las instalaciones de la Fira. Outerspace ocupará un pabellón completo del recinto -el denominado Hall 7- y estará dividido en tres espacios temáticos. Its name is Outerspace and it's framed in the also new fair The Brandery. Both events will be held from the 7th to the 9th of July at Fira's facilities. El próximo 23 de julio un destacamento de Staf cogerá un avión rumbo a Birmingham, Inglaterra, para cubrir la edición de este año del festival de música, cine y arte Supersonic Festival. El evento se celebra del 24 al 26 de julio y en su cartel hay cosas tan apetecibles como Jarboe, Earthless, The Accused, Corrupted, 65 Days Of Static, Zu, Army Of Flying Robots, Chris Herbert, Iron Lung, ZzZ o los próximamente reseñados en Staf Tartufi, entre muchos, muchos otros. Supersonic Birmingham // It's official. Next July 23 a Staf detatchment will ride the skies towards Birmingham, England, to cover this year's edition of the music, film and art festival Supersonic. The event will take place from the 24th to the 26th of July and the line up features plenty of tasty stuff such as Jarboe, Earthless, The Accused, Corrupted, 65 Days Of Static, Zu, Army Of Flying Robots, Chris Herbert, Iron Lung, ZzZ or the soon-reviewed-in-Staf duo Tartufi, among many, many others. Los mejores de Kr3w //

Con la llegada del mes de junio la marca de streetwear Kr3w pone en marcha una serie de campeonatos en colaboración con sus tiendas en diez ciudades de cinco países europeos. Kr3w's best // Starting in the month known as June Californian streetwear brand Kr3w is setting in motion a contest series in collaboration with its retailers in ten cities from five European countries. The contest will be open to every local non-sponsored skater in the participant cities -in Spain that means La Plaza in San Sebastián, One Love in Alcorcón and Free in Barcelona- and, basically, will be about seeing who comes up with the best trick, that should be presented in the forms of video or photograph. Los European Skateboard Championships de Etnies esperan en verano //

La novena edición de los European Skateboard Championships -fruto de la colaboración de Etnies y Carhartt y el apoyo de otros muchos como Element o Red Bull- ya tiene fecha y lugar de celebración: Basilea -Suiza- del 6 al 9 de agosto. Duplex Style: música y arte urbano en Ponferrada //

El Barcelona Extreme vuelve a llenar de público el Parc del Fòrum, que en esta edición registrado un total de 35.000 visitantes. El evento se celebró los pasados días 6 y 7 de junio, y entre los ganadores en las diferentes modalidades se consiguieron colar tres españoles -Edgar Torrenteras en FMX, Daniel Peñafiel en BMX y Juan Rubio en Longboard- y Danny Meyer se llevó el título en skate vert a sus 35 añitos. Barcelona Extreme: the photogallery // Barcelona Extreme gathered a massive amount of public once again in Parc del Fòrum, which in this edition registered a total of 35 thousand attendants. The event took place the 6th and 7th of June and, amongst winners in the different categories, three Spaniards managed to get a top spot -Edgar Torrenteras in FMX, Daniel Peñafiel in BMX and Juan Rubio in Longboard- and 35-yo Danny Meyer got the vert skate title. El recién estrenado ciclo de arte del concept store donostiarra Noventa Grados pasa página, concretamente de la uno a la dos. El 23 de mayo quedó clausurada la exposición inaugural LiquidDocs 00: Sònia Gómez y cinco días después -el 28- llegó la segunda. Se titula Une Étrange Affaire y reúne la obra del colectivo artístico de Biarritz Middle Classe. Gorputza's second coming // Recently opened art series by San Sebastián's concept store Noventa Grados turns the page, from the first to the second one to be exact. On May 23 the inaugural exhibition LiquidDocs 00: Sònia Gómez came to an end and only five days after -the 28th- came the second one. Entitled Une Étrange Affaire, the show gathers the work of Biarritz art collective Middle Classe.
